Transit, Gesture, Reflection

When I think back to my first trip to Berlin a few years ago, two memories stand out—its incredible train stations and the inspiring Bauhaus Museum in nearby Dessau.

During a recent visit to the German capital, I wanted to see if I could combine these two elements with my ongoing Motion photo series, where I explore the human form and its relation to urban landscapes.

Working with artists Ellen Maiorano and Anne-Marie Ludwig, and drawing on the experimental stage work of Oskar Schlemmer and the photographic language of Florence Henri, we created a set of images that channel the rhythm and geometry of Berlin’s transit system while echoing the enduring influence of the Bauhaus.
